The Minnesota Vikings fired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo on Tuesday, replacing him with quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski on an interim basis.

Stefanski will call plays for the Vikings. The moves come shortly after Minnesota's disappointing 21-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

DeFilippo was hired away from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he served as QBs coach for 2016 and 2017, following the Eagles' victory in Super Bowl LII. He replaced Pat Shurmur, who left to become the New York Giants' head coach following the 2017 campaign.

Stefanski has been with the Vikings since 2006, working under several different titles. Minnesota denied the Giants permission to interview Stefanski for their offensive coordinator role this past offseason.

The Vikings rank 20th in scoring with 21.7 points per game on the season, more than two full points below their 2017 average. Also, only two teams have accumulated fewer rushing yards through 14 weeks.

Minnesota remains second in the NFC North with a record of 6-6-1.
