Jalen Ramsey wants the Jacksonville Jaguars to squash the trade rumors that interrupted his season by proving their commitment to him with a new contract.

"If y'all serious about that (trade speculation) not being real, then y'all need to make it happen," the Pro Bowl cornerback said Thursday when asked if he's eyeing an extension, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "If not, then maybe what came out five weeks ago will happen. We'll see."

It's been an adventurous season for Ramsey, who has firmly cemented himself as the league's most fearless trash-talker. His antics have reportedly started to wear on the Jaguars, causing the franchise to consider dumping him in the offseason. Jacksonville said in response to the rumor in November that it has "zero intention" of trading him.

Ramsey was an All-Pro in 2017 and helped the Jags reach the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. He hasn't been as consistent this year - especially defending the run - but it hasn't affected his self-confidence.

"I feel like people get confused because we're losing right now as a team, but if you look at what I do out here, I'm still performing at a high level," he told Phillip Heilman of the Florida Times-Union.

Lowest passer rating allowed when the nearest defender per Next Gen Stats (among 105 qualifying CBs):

- Jalen Ramsey (58.6)
- Patrick Peterson (58.8)
- Kyle Fuller (60.8)

Ramsey, the fifth overall pick of the 2016 draft, is in his third campaign with Jacksonville. He has three interceptions in 13 games this season for the 4-9 Jaguars.

The 24-year-old has been a target for criticism at times this year because of his incessant trash talk and his in-game body language.
