The Philadelphia Eagles officially ruled out quarterback Carson Wentz for Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Rams due to a back injury.

Head coach Doug Pederson confirmed Friday that Wentz is battling a stress fracture in his back that has "evolved over time" but won't require surgery. A full recovery is expected to take up to three months, but the Eagles have yet to rule their star passer out for the season.

Wentz reportedly battled an ailing back for weeks, yet previous CT scans didn't reveal a fracture.

Nick Foles started the first three games of the season as Wentz made his way back from knee surgery and will start versus the Rams.

Philadelphia also ruled out linebacker Jordan Hicks, defensive tackle Tim Jernigan, guard Isaac Seumalo, and cornerback Sidney Jones on Friday as the team fights to keep its slim playoff hopes alive.
