Running back Frank Gore is not expected to suit up in the Miami Dolphins' two remaining regular-season games after spraining his foot on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The running back underwent an MRI on his foot Monday.

Gore will see how his foot heals before deciding on whether he needs surgery, a source told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

The 35-year-old isn't under contract for the 2019 NFL season, meaning Sunday's contest could possibly be the veteran's last game of his career.

Gore had rushed for 722 yards on 156 carries with one receiving touchdown prior to the injury. He is currently fourth in all-time rushing yards with 14,748 over his career, trailing Barry Sanders by 521 yards.

The 7-7 Dolphins haven't been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention but would need to win their final two games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills and receive help.

Running backs Kalen Ballage and Kenyan Drake are expected to see increased touches in Week 16 as Gore will miss his first game since the 2010 NFL season.
