Grade 7 and 8 students from Dr. J. Edgar Davey Elementary School deliver some of the 1,737 pairs of socks they collected as part of their Warm Toes Warm Hearts drive, which the students both initiated and operated this fall for people in need. Teachers Shelley Bowen and Phearum Shute, as well as student success teachers, incorporated the core curriculum subjects of language and math into the project, which charted the number of socks collected, had students making posters and contacting media as well as advertising about their project. On Wednesday, the students delivered over 800 pairs of socks to Living Rock Ministries, the downtown outreach facility for youth. The 50 students will deliver 800 more to the Good Shepherd on Thursday.
