The Miami Dolphins will not attempt to recruit Michigan's Jim Harbaugh to become their next head coach, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson and Adam H. Beasley on Monday.

Although Adam Gase is still Dolphins head coach, some predict he'll be fired at the end of the 2018 season.

Harbaugh's been linked to the New York Jets with Todd Bowles widely expected to be dismissed.

Prior to joining the Wolverines, Harbaugh enjoyed a successful stint as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers (2011-14), including a three-year run that led to a Super Bowl appearance and two NFC Championship Game showings.

Harbaugh hasn't indicated any intention to leave Michigan, but he remains a wish-list candidate for some opportunistic teams.
