Gruden tries to challenge scoring play for 2nd time this season
Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden cost himself a timeout Monday by trying to challenge a scoring play - which is against the rules - for the second time this season.
Gruden threw his red flag after Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum nearly ran past the line of scrimmage before throwing a touchdown pass. However, because all scoring plays are automatically reviewed and can't be challenged, Gruden was penalized a timeout.

The mishap sparked plenty of reaction on Twitter:
Jon Gruden shattering the single season NFL record for challenging unchallengeable plays was the biggest lock in NFL history.

Jon Gruden just challenged a scoring play, which can't be challenged. That's the second time this season he's done that; he said earlier in the year that he sometimes challenges when he knows he can't just to send a message to NFL VP of Officiating Al Riveron.
