Riley 'very happy' at Oklahoma despite NFL interest
Another prime NFL head coaching candidate has taken his name out of the running.
Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley said Thursday that he has no immediate plans to take a job at the pro level.
"I can't tell you how I'm gonna feel in 10 years, but no, not right now," Riley said when asked about his NFL interest, according to Howie Kussoy of the New York Post. "... I'm very happy where I'm at right now."
The 35-year-old has steered the Sooners to the 2018 College Football Playoff. Oklahoma will face Alabama in the Orange Bowl on Saturday.
"If it was 20, 30 years ago, where there were some major differences, maybe. ... The way the college game has evolved, financially it's a lot better situation now when you compare it to NFL teams. We're at a place where we're happy, and we don't take that for granted. I love coaching at Oklahoma, love coaching college football."
Riley received a raise in June that will pay him $25 million over five years.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh also vehemently denied any interest in an NFL vacancy.
