The New England Patriots are preparing for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to accept one of the league's head coaching vacancies, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports, citing multiple sources.

McDaniels has been a member of the Patriots' staff since 2001. He became the offensive coordinator in 2006 and left the team in 2009 to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

He then returned to New England in 2012 and had an agreement with the Indianapolis Colts to become their head coach last offseason, only to renege on that deal and return to Foxboro.

According to Florio, McDaniels has already interviewed for the Green Bay Packers' head coaching job and will likely limit his access to teams he'd be willing to leave the Patriots for.
