Chargers add Henry to active roster for divisional round
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Monday they've added tight end Hunter Henry to their active roster for Sunday's divisional-round game against the New England Patriots.
The second-round pick in 2016 was on the physically unable to perform list after tearing his ACL during the first day of OTAs in May. The Chargers opened a 21-day window in which to activate Henry from the PUP when he first returned to practice on Dec. 17.
Head coach Anthony Lynn told reporters the 24-year-old will likely be on a snap count upon his return.
Henry caught 45 of 62 targets for 579 yards and four touchdowns over 14 games in 2017. He also recorded eight touchdowns as a rookie in 2016.
He'll upgrade the tight end combination of Antonio Gates and Virgil Green that the Chargers have used this campaign. The two totaled just 543 receiving yards and three touchdowns during the regular season, and they combined for five catches and 43 yards in a wild-card game win over the Baltimore Ravens.
