Jerry Rice, who spent the bulk of his Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers, would endorse a potential trade for star wideout Antonio Brown.

"If you got a player like that, that you can get, that can really add to the offense of the San Francisco 49ers where now you let those guys go play, I think you have to go for it," Rice said Monday during an appearance on 95.7 The Game.

Brown is coming off his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl season but a series of missteps off the field has put his future with the Pittsburgh Steelers in jeopardy. He's been called selfish by many - including ex-teammate Ryan Clark - since going MIA on the Steelers during the final week of the regular season.

The 30-year-old Brown has fueled speculation that he wants out of Pittsburgh since the end of the campaign by posting photos of Rice from his 49ers days on social media.

"This guy, he is a team player," Rice said. "People have to realize, too, (tight end) George Kittle is gonna get doubled ... and you need someone on the other side that's gonna complement him where he can take that double-coverage off George Kittle and they work together and they become a tandem."

Brown posted 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. However, his large contract, advancing age, and off-field issues could be problematic for any interested team.

As for Rice, the three-time Super Bowl champion owns the NFL career receiving records for catches, yards, and touchdowns.
