Report: Cowboys, Garrett to negotiate long-term extension following season
The Dallas Cowboys appear certain Jason Garrett is their head coach of the future.
Dallas intends to negotiate a long-term contract extension with Garrett following the team's playoff run, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The extension is expected to be lucrative, per Rapoport, considering he signed a five-year, $30 million contract in 2015.
Garrett may have been on the hot seat earlier this season, but he led the Cowboys to victory in seven of their last eight games.
The 52-year-old is the sideline boss for a team that won its second NFC East crown in three years and then defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round.
Dallas will battle the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC divisional round on Saturday.
