Report: Rex Ryan could be candidate for Chiefs' DC opening
After a two-year absence, Rex Ryan could reportedly return to coaching in the near future.
The former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills head coach is drawing interest from teams about their defensive coordinator openings, and could be a candidate for the recently vacated position with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Ryan is currently working as an analyst for ESPN.
Kansas City fired defensive coordinator Bob Sutton on Tuesday after losing to the New England Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship Game.
Ryan was fired by the Bills in December 2016 and hasn't coached since. He posted a combined 61-66 record as head coach of the Bills and Jets.
The 56-year-old also served as defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens from 2005-2008 and previously helped the organization win a Super Bowl in 2000 as a defensive line coach.
