New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has no recollection of facing Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay when the two were in college.

"Honestly, I don't," Edelman told reporters on Friday. "But it was pretty cool to see some footage. It was cool."

Edelman, a quarterback at Kent State, and McVay, a wide receiver at Miami (Ohio), battled in 2007. They're set to clash again on Feb. 3 in Atlanta, where Edelman's Patriots and McVay's Rams will square off in Super Bowl LIII.

"He's a stud," Edelman said of McVay. "He's my age and he's leading an organization to a Super Bowl. It's unbelievable and it's a testament to how much he knows the game, how hard he works. I love seeing it. He's a (Mid-American Conference) guy."

Edelman, 32, will be one of the oldest Patriots when the game kicks off. Meanwhile, McVay, who just turned 33 years old, will be the youngest head coach in Super Bowl history when he steps into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in nine days.
