McVay: Belichick texts me after Rams games
They'll be on opposing sidelines during Super Bowl LIII, but New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is apparently a fan of Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay.
"This season, he has basically texted me after every one of our games," McVay told NBC Sports' Peter King. "After we beat Minnesota in September, he texted, 'Man, you guys are really explosive and impressive and fun to watch. Congratulations - keep it rolling.'
"For him to even take the time to say congrats, it's pretty cool. That's one of the things I like about our business, our fraternity of coaches. As competitive as it is, guys find time to share when they can. I'm still young, still figuring it out. That stuff's been really helpful to me."
After inheriting a 4-12 Rams team in early 2017, McVay's gone 24-8 and captured the NFC West this season with a 13-3 record. At 33, he's the youngest head coach to lead a team to the Super Bowl.
Belichick, 66, will pursue his sixth Super Bowl win as a head coach on Feb. 3.
