While Rob Gronkowski remains coy about his future plans, there's speculation he could be heading to Hollywood after his NFL career ends.

Henry Penzi, a longtime friend of Mark Wahlberg who helped get Gronkowski a cameo in the 2015 "Entourage" movie, believes the New England Patriots tight end could have a bright future in acting.

"My vision was to replace Arnold," Penzi told Tim Rohan of Sports Illustrated. "I mean, they're getting old - Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. My vision was, they're older and they've passed the baton to The Rock and (Jason) Statham, and then they'd give it to the next generation, which is Rob."

According to his IMDB page, Gronkowski has roles in two movies scheduled for release this year: "Deported," a comedy in which he plays a character called "Party Guy Jake," and "Boss Level," a sci-fi thriller starring Mel Gibson.

Penzi said Gronkowski was also offered a role in the John Cena action-comedy "Playing with Fire" last fall, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts.

"It was a big role," Penzi said. "God, we would've loved to be on that movie. Are you kidding me? I wanted to jump (off) a building when he said no."
