A Colin Kaepernick mural in Atlanta has been replaced after the abandoned building it was painted on last year was torn down during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Atlanta-based artist Fabian Williams, also known as "Occasional Superstar," painted an image of the quarterback in an Atlanta Falcons uniform standing beside boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

The building was ravaged by a fire about six months ago but the wall remained intact, according to Ernie Suggs of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Williams told Suggs he planned to touch up the mural Saturday ahead of Super Bowl LIII.

"I figured at some point they would tear the building down, but it has been sitting up this whole time," Williams said. "The fact that the Super Bowl happens here and the weekend when the festivities are gearing up, the building gets demolished is very odd."

On Sunday, Williams and several other artists in Atlanta created eight new tributes to Kaepernick as part of an effort called the "KaeperBowl."
