National Technical Systems Inc., a large provider of qualification testing services, has purchased a Kitchener-based materials testing business. National, headquartered in Anaheim, Calif., said the acquisition of Sci-Lab Materials Testing Inc. gives it a strong presence in Ontario and broadens the scope of its testing capabilities. Sci-Lab, founded in 1990, operates a 30,000-square-foot facility on Trillium Drive. It provides materials testing services for customers in the automotive, military, electronics and consumer goods industries. With the acquisition, National operates 28 qualification testing and inspection labs across North America. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
