The Cleveland Browns cut linebacker Jamie Collins on Wednesday, the team announced.

Cleveland attempted to trade Collins but couldn't find any takers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

"We want to thank Jamie for his contributions to the Cleveland Browns," general manager John Dorsey said in a statement. "These types of decisions are never easy. Jamie is a respected veteran player in this league and we wish him the best as he continues his career."

The Browns saved $9.25 million in cap space after parting ways with the defender, according to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero.

Cleveland acquired Collins from the New England Patriots during the 2016 season for a 2017 third-round draft pick.

The 29-year-old had 104 total tackles, four sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble in 2018.

Collins took to Twitter to wish Cleveland farewell.

Thanks for everything @Browns '
