The Philadelphia Eagles plan to trade or release veteran defensive lineman Michael Bennett in an effort to create more salary cap space, sources told Jeff McLane of Philly.com.

Bennett, 33, acknowledged Friday that his days in Philadelphia could be numbered, as he isn't open to accepting a salary reduction.

"I'm not willing to take a pay cut, I actually want a pay raise," he said on NFL Network.

Bennett racked up nine sacks in his lone campaign with Philadelphia last year, continuing to serve as one of the league's most versatile defensive linemen.

He is scheduled to earn $6.2 million in base salary next season with an additional $1 million available in per-game roster bonuses.

"Whatever team I go to, I want to get paid more than what I'm getting paid right now," he added.

The three-time Pro Bowler captured Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks at the end of the 2013 season.
