Report: Giants trade Vernon to Browns for Zeitler
The New York Giants have agreed to trade edge defender Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for guard Kevin Zeitler, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.
The Giants will also send a fourth-round pick (No. 132 overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft to the Browns for a fifth-round selection (No. 155 overall), Garafolo reports.
Vernon and Zeitler were both rumored to be on the trade block during the NFL combine due to their bloated salaries.
Vernon gives the Browns a marquee pass-rusher to pair with Myles Garrett. The 28-year-old posted seven sacks in 11 games last season and registered 22.5 sacks over three campaigns in New York.
Zeitler, meanwhile, bolsters the Giants' notoriously weak offensive line. New York spent big money on Nate Solder and used a second-round pick on Will Hernandez to shore up the left side last year.
The trade cannot be made official until March 13, the first day of the new league year.
