Report: Lions close to making Coleman highest-paid nickel CB
The Detroit Lions are reportedly closing in on a contract with free agent Justin Coleman, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
It'll be a four-year deal worth $36 million, making Coleman the NFL's highest-paid nickel cornerback, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, citing a source.
The 25-year-old defender spent the last two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, thriving in slot coverage. He previously played under Matt Patricia with the New England Patriots.
Detroit's secondary struggled in 2018, fielding the NFL's 23rd-ranked pass defense. The team recently released Nevin Lawson, who started opposite star cornerback Darius Slay.
Coleman notched three interceptions and two fumble recoveries during his two years with Seattle.
