Defensive end Montez Sweat required a closer look from NFL combine doctors after tests revealed he had a pre-existing heart condition that was unknown beforehand, sources told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

However, the doctors reportedly deemed the heart condition to be "low-risk" and allowed the Mississippi State product to participate in Indianapolis, where he went on to post the fastest 40-yard dash by a defensive lineman in combine history.

Sweat's agent issued the following statement to NFL.com regarding the condition:

"Because of privacy issues we are not allowed to comment specifically. But I will tell you that this is not news. Montez is the same person that was medically cleared to play and dominate the SEC, the Senior Bowl, and the NFL combine. No change in health and no change in domination!"

At the combine, the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Sweat ran the 40 in 4.41 seconds. He also cracked the top five in the three-cone drill, the 20-yard shuttle, and the broad jump.

It's yet to be known what NFL teams will make of Sweat's physical.
