The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly added to their secondary on Monday, signing free-agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland, a source told ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

The former Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins defender will sign a one-year, incentive-laden deal that carries a max value of $5 million, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Breeland's addition to Kansas City's defense will be a welcomed one, as the unit currently fields little experience at cornerback beyond Kendall Fuller.

The Chiefs ranked 31st in pass defense last season and lost Steven Nelson to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the open market.

Breeland signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers last offseason, but he failed his physical and eventually joined Green Bay three weeks into the 2019 campaign. He recorded two interceptions in seven games.
