Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown hinted at the likelihood of a contract extension for A.J. Green on Wednesday when asked about the star receiver's future.

"Oh, I think he's a proven commodity, isn't he?" Brown responded to Fletcher Page of the Cincinnati Inquirer. "The price range for him will be something we can figure out."

Green, who's spent his entire eight-year career with the Bengals, has had his name surface in trade rumors this offseason.

The seven-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his contract and will turn 31 in July. He's finished two of the last three seasons on injured reserve, and the Bengals have simultaneously sunk into an apparent rebuilding phase.

"It's true with anyone, if they suddenly get an injury that it reduces them," Brown said. "Well that changes the equation, but I never plan on that happening. I like to think that won't happen. If A.J. is healthy, he's as good a receiver as anybody in the league."

In nine outings a year ago, Green posted 694 yards and six touchdowns. He's eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each full season he's played.

Meanwhile, Brown said the Bengals won't look to extend quarterback Andy Dalton. The veteran signal-caller has two seasons remaining on his deal.
