Do you have tips for (concerts in) Akihabara?

I would have liked to visit an AKB48 concert in Akihabara, Tokyo. But it was impossible to get tickets. Does one of our Japanese readers know if it is possible to see a similar J-Pop girl group in Akihabara (or other places in Tokyo) where one can buy tickets right at the counter? Other tips what to do in Akihabara would also be great. My hotel is in Ueno, just a bit north of Akihabara.
