Do Amtrak and Airport Subsidies Make America Richer?

The government spending per se does not create net new economic activity. It just redistributes it, but in a way that is easy to see. Getting rid of subsidies doesn't make economic activity disappear. It moves it elsewhere-and in fact, it very likely moves it to areas that give us more bang for our buck or more bread for the sweat of our brows.
