Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks got a deal done Tuesday that will reportedly make him the NFL's highest-paid player.

Before the agreement was reached, there'd been speculation that the quarterback's hard stance during negotiations was a sign he wanted to play elsewhere - a notion Wilson's agent, Mark Rodgers, disputed afterward.

"Russell loves this town, this team and these fans and part of the compromise involved his affection for all things Seattle," Rodgers told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. "The idea of playing anywhere else was not as appealing as playing right here, the place he and his family call home."

The five-time Pro Bowler's new agreement will keep him in Seattle through the 2023 season.

The Seahawks selected Wilson in the third round of the 2012 draft. Since then, he's led the team to the postseason in six of seven seasons and won the championship in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The 30-year-old and his wife, Ciara, took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to celebrate the new contract.
