General manager Jason Licht did little Tuesday to dispel speculation that defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has played his final game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I talked about Gerald at the combine," Licht told reporters. "I talked about him, answered some questions at the owners' meetings, and there really hasn't been any developments."

McCoy's status with the Buccaneers has been in flux ever since Tampa ushered in a 3-4 defense with the arrival of its new coaching staff. McCoy, a six-time Pro Bowler, has spent the bulk of his career in 4-3 sets.

McCoy hasn't exactly been welcomed back to the team with open arms by new head coach Bruce Arians. The first-year boss previously questioned McCoy's recent effectiveness, and also told the veteran not to join the club for voluntary workouts.

When asked why McCoy was told to stay home, Licht responded: "That you'd have to ask Bruce."

McCoy is due $13 million in base salary in 2019, making him a candidate for trade or outright release. Licht wouldn't reveal whether he's asked the 31-year-old to take a pay cut.

"Any conversation we have with Gerald, I am going to keep private," he said.

McCoy registered six sacks last year to go with 28 tackles. He's amassed six sacks or more in each of the past six campaigns.
