Marshawn Lynch would return to the Oakland Raiders if the team wanted to bring him back, a source told Steve Wyche of NFL.com.

It was reported last week that Lynch, whose contract expired, "plans to move on to the next phase of his life." Oakland then used one of its three first-round picks on Alabama running back Josh Jacobs.

Lynch retired after the 2015 season but returned to play for his hometown team in 2017 and rushed for 1,267 yards and 10 touchdowns in what was thought to be the team's final two years in Oakland - his 2018 campaign was cut short by a groin injury after six games.

However, with the Raiders' stadium in Las Vegas not scheduled to open until 2020, and other options falling through, the team agreed to remain in Oakland for at least one more year, which reportedly made Lynch's 2019 return more likely.

The Raiders reportedly re-signed Doug Martin after losing free-agent addition Isaiah Crowell to a season-ending Achilles injury.
