The Minnesota Vikings' contract extension talks with tight end Kyle Rudolph broke down on Friday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rudolph could now be traded, and there's interest around the league, Rapoport adds.

The Vikings selected tight end Irv Smith Jr. 50th overall in the 2019 draft. That may make Rudolph expendable, as the two-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his contract while carrying a $7.5 million cap hit.

Minnesota is still tight against the salary cap, and the team was reportedly open to trading its expensive veteran players during April's draft.

Rudolph finished with 64 receptions for 634 yards during the 2018 season. His four touchdowns were the 29-year-old's lowest total since 2014.
