That woman who got fired for comparing Michelle Obama to an ape is now going to jail for defrauding FEMA
In 2016, Pamela Taylor lost her job as director of the Clay County (WV) Development Corporation when she posted a Facebook update that read, "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing a Ape in heels."
Last week, Ms Taylor was sentenced to 10 months in prison and two months under house arrest, and ordered to pay $10,000 in fines and $18,149.04 in restitution after she admitted to fraudulently filing for FEMA compensation, falsely claiming that her home had been damaged in the 2016 Clay County floods that killed 23 people, and billing the federal government for compensation for nonexistent expenses incurred in renting accommodation that she never had to rent.
It's your timely reminder that racists rarely have just one thing wrong with them.
"Defrauding federal programs is always an egregious act," said Mark Tasky, special agent in charge, U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General, in a statement. "Disaster relief fraud is even more serious because of the limited nature of the funds intended to assist Americans in their time of greatest need."
