Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff are tied at the hip, and that doesn't figure to change anytime soon.

Goff has just two years left on his rookie deal with the Rams after the team exercised his fifth-year option for 2020, but McVay is adamant his signal-caller will be offered an extension.

"Whether it ends up happening this year or next year, there is a zero percent chance this guy's not gonna get an extension he's worthy of," McVay said to NFL Network's Michael Silver.

It's been suggested the Rams could move on from Goff when his rookie deal is done in favor of a cheaper option at quarterback considering much of the team's finances are tied up in other franchise players.

"All the narratives out there are wrong. Jared and I couldn't be more connected, and I couldn't be more appreciative of him as our leader," McVay said. "He is so vital and important to us and our success. That extension will get done. It's a matter of when, not if."

McVay inherited Goff when he joined the Rams in 2017. Following a rookie season in which he went 0-7 as a starter under the Jeff Fisher regime in 2016, Goff and McVay combined to form a dynamic offensive attack that led to an 11-5 record in 2017 and a 13-3 record with a trip to the Super Bowl in 2018.
