Kirby, a four-year-old Lab-collile-husky cross, cools off in the fountain in Gore Park on Thursday. The mercury peaked at 28 C on Thursday around 1 p.m., but it felt like a sweltering 39 with the humidex. An afternoon thunderstorm cooled things off a little, but not much.
