Report: Edelman out 3 weeks with thumb injury
New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman will be absent when the team's training camp begins July 25 as he's sidelined for about three weeks with a thumb injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, citing league sources.
The injury is described as "mild trauma," a source informed NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
While the Super Bowl LIII MVP won't be out long, his loss will be felt because he's the most experienced member of a shallow receiving corps.
The Patriots are moving forward with Phillip Dorsett, Dontrelle Inman, Braxton Berrios, and rookie N'Keal Harry catching passes in camp. Veteran Demaryius Thomas will reportedly begin camp on the physically unable to perform list after being involved in a car crash in February and rupturing his Achilles in December.
