Mark Sanchez retiring to become college football analyst

Mark Sanchez is the latest NFL player to leave the football field for the broadcast booth.

The veteran quarterback is retiring to join ESPN/ABC as a college football analyst, as Andrew Marchand of the New York Post first reported and Sanchez confirmed on Tuesday. His main duty will reportedly be to join Kevin Negandhi and Jonathan Vilma as a studio analyst on ABC.

Sanchez played for 10 seasons, the first five of which were spent with the Jets. He famously led New York to back-to-back conference championship games in his first two years.

The back half of his career included stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins.

Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo retired to become an analyst with CBS in 2017 and his former tight end, Jason Witten, followed suit in 2018. Witten has since returned to the Cowboys for the 2019 season.
