Falcons 1st-rounder McGary to undergo heart procedure
Atlanta Falcons rookie offensive tackle Kaleb McGary will undergo a cardiac ablation procedure Wednesday afternoon, the team announced.
The Falcons called the impending heart procedure minimally invasive and said a potential recovery timetable will be established once it is complete. McGary underwent two similar procedures in the past and received a six-to-eight week timeline when he was last operated on in college, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McGary, who was drafted 31st overall out of Washington, spent the bulk of training camp working at right tackle with the second-team offense. He and Chris Lindstrom, a guard, were both selected the opening round of the draft as Atlanta made an effort to stabilize its leaky unit up front.
He was cleared by NFL medical testing in late February to participate in the scouting combine.
