Report: Colts' Ware having ankle surgery, plans to return for new team
Running back Spence Ware was placed on the Indianapolis Colts' reserve/physically unable to perform list on Friday, making him unavailable to play for the club this season.
The 27-year-old is having ankle surgery, which has a five-to-six week recovery timeline, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ware plans to have an injury settlement with the Colts, which will lead to his release and allow him to play for another team, Rapoport adds.
The running back reiterated the sentiment in a tweet on Saturday, stating his plan is to "play this year."
I am NOT done for season! When things happen you have to adjust and treat accordingly.I'm going to play THIS YEAR,so there are things that need to be done before that happens that'll put me in the best case scenario.MINOR,MINOR, MINOR setback because of timing. #GODsPLAN #YESLAWD

Ware signed a one-year deal with the Colts in April. He had 246 rushing yards, 224 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in 2018 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
