Kendrick Norton opens up about life as an amputee in new YouTube series
A month after losing part of his left arm in a car accident, former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton is offering a glimpse into his life as a new amputee as part of a YouTube series.
A video posted Tuesday on Norton and his girlfriend Kira's channel shows the 22-year-old cleaning his amputated arm and discussing how he's been coping in the aftermath of the accident. Norton explains that he's staying strong and tells his supporters not to worry about him "too much."
Norton ends the video with an inspirational message to fellow amputees.
"Don't let nobody determine how you feel about yourself," he says. "That's word to the wise for everybody."
Norton underwent six surgeries before being released from the hospital in July. He has since been placed on the Dolphins' reserve/non-football injury list.
