Josh McCown ends brief retirement to join Eagles
Josh McCown has paused his retirement and broadcasting career to join the Philadelphia Eagles for his 17th NFL season, according to PhiladelphiaEagles.com's Dave Spadaro.
The 40-year-old journeyman pivot signed a one-year deal worth up to $5.4 million, including $2 million fully guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McCown, who hung up his cleats in June, apparently plans to resume his TV job with ESPN after this season.
The Eagles have recently lost backup quarterbacks Nate Sudfeld and Cody Kessler to injury. Sudfeld suffered a wrist injury last week and Kessler sustained a concussion this week.
Philadelphia still expects Sudfeld, who was retained by the team with a second-round tender in March, to return this season, according to Schefter.
The Eagles will be McCown's 11th NFL team across 18 professional seasons, which includes a one-year stint in the United Football League.
