Garoppolo 'a little frustrated' after dud in 1st game since ACL injury
Jimmy Garoppolo's first game action since tearing his ACL last September was forgettable.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback led three drives but only completed 1 of 6 passes for 0 yards and a 0.0 passer rating in Monday's preseason test against the Denver Broncos. His first throw of the night was batted down and his second was intercepted.
"Obviously a little frustrated but it's the NFL," Garoppolo said afterward, according to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area.
"Unfortunately, we don't get to play the whole game right now so I only get so many plays. You wish you could be out there for more so we could bounce back. But it is what it is. It's preseason right now, so we just have to take it in stride."
Despite the ugly performance, head coach Kyle Shanahan saw some positives.
"It was good for him because it's a big hurdle to get out there for the first time, but we haven't seen any issues with the knee," Shanahan said. "We aren't too concerned about his injury. It's about him playing and getting reps with our team."
Garoppolo is entering his third year with the Niners, but he's started just eight games for the franchise to date.
He'll get his next opportunity in the third week of the preseason - typically the dress rehearsal for the regular season - when San Francisco visits the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.
