Houston Texans edge defender Jadeveon Clowney adamantly opposes being traded to the Miami Dolphins, a league source told Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

The two teams have reportedly engaged in trade talks, though it's unclear if an agreement is close. Houston is believed to be interested in Laremy Tunsil, but a report on Thursday night indicated Dolphins players would "revolt" if the left tackle is dealt for Clowney.

Clowney holds leverage during trade discussions because he can delay signing his franchise tender and threaten to leave in free agency after the season. The Pro Bowler can't play or be dealt until he signs his tender, and no team can extend him during the season because the deadline to sign franchised players to extensions has passed.

Clowney has been rumored to prefer landing with the Philadelphia Eagles or Seattle Seahawks. It's unknown if those teams are reciprocating his reported interest.

While Clowney returning to the Texans is still possible, all signs over the past several weeks indicate both parties are preparing for him to play elsewhere.

Clowney, the No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft, has recorded 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons. The 26-year-old has earned three straight Pro Bowl selections.
