The Seattle Seahawks reportedly have a deal in place to acquire Pro Bowl edge defender Jadeveon Clowney from the Houston Texans, sources told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

In return, the Texans will receive a third-round pick and linebackers Barkevious Mingo and Jacob Martin, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The trade cannot be finalized until Clowney signs his franchise tender and the players involved pass physicals.

Clowney reportedly favored a move to the Seahawks or Philadelphia Eagles over the Miami Dolphins, who were thought to be close to landing him. He reportedly avoided the Dolphins by threatening to delay signing his franchise tag and then leaving as a free agent after the season.

The No. 1 pick in 2014 posted 47 tackles and nine sacks last year en route to his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection. He's racked up 18.5 sacks over the last two years. Despite the production, the Texans never appeared close to giving Clowney the lucrative long-term deal he sought.

In Seattle, Clowney will bolster a pass rush that lost Frank Clark in the offseason - the sack artist was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks responded by drafting L.J. Collier in the first round and signing Ezekiel Ansah in free agency.

The Seahawks won't be able to sign Clowney to an extension during the season, as the deadline for franchised players to ink multi-year deals previously passed.

Clowney is also planning to rehire agent Bus Cook, whom he recently fired, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
