Report: 3rd-round rookie Polite clears waivers, joins Seahawks' practice squad
Former New York Jets third-round pick Jachai Polite will sign a practice squad deal with the Seattle Seahawks after clearing waivers, a source told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The Jets selected the pass-rusher 68th overall in April's NFL draft, but he failed to make their 53-man roster.
Polite was billed as a first-round talent leading up to the draft but plummeted down the board following one of the most disastrous combines in recent memory. At the Indianapolis event, the Florida product admitted he had never watched tape of himself. He also suffered from fitness issues and injured his hamstring at his pro day.
It's highly unusual for players drafted in the first three rounds to get cut before the ensuing season.
Polite had 11 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss in his junior year at Florida.
