The Dallas Cowboys have signed right tackle La'el Collins to a five-year, $50-million extension that includes $35 million guaranteed, sources told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Collins becomes one of the five highest-paid players at his position, and the deal ties him to Dallas for the next six seasons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 26-year-old signed with the Cowboys in 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He was projected to be an early-round pick but that changed when police asked to interview him about the death of his ex-girlfriend before the draft.

Collins has been a mainstay on the Cowboys' line since his rookie campaign, debuting at guard before switching to tackle in 2017.

The LSU product is the second Cowboy to ink a long-term extension before the season, joining linebacker Jaylon Smith. Dallas has four of its five starters on the offensive line - left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick, right guard Zack Martin, and Collins - signed through at least 2023.
