Nick Foles suffered a broken left clavicle in his Jacksonville Jaguars debut against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the team confirmed following the loss.

The quarterback is out indefinitely, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Foles said postgame that he'll undergo surgery Monday, per team insider John Oehser.

Foles was accompanied to the X-ray room by a trainer after getting hurt on a hit he took while tossing a 35-yard touchdown to DJ Chark in the first quarter. The veteran was replaced by rookie sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew.

The Jaguars signed Foles to a four-year, $88-million contract in free agency, confident that he'd push them back into contention in the AFC. The Super Bowl LII MVP spent the previous two seasons backing up Carson Wentz with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Minshew was impressive in mop-up duty, completing 22 of his 25 passes for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception despite the Jaguars losing 40-26. The rookie is likely to assume starting duties for the foreseeable future.

Chase Litton is the only other quarterback on Jacksonville's roster but currently resides on the practice squad.
