WiFi on laptop connects like it's working but isn't (Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon)

This only happens sometimes when i'm initially connecting to my router, so if i turn off wifi somehow like when i boot up or wake from sleep mode (or just turn the wifi off) it will say i'm connected but i wont be able to use my browser or anything, it'll keep loading until it times out, the only way i've been able to solve this is to keep turning my wifi on and off from the taskbar until it works, and cus it's seemingly random this can take a bit sometimes lol so i was wondering if anyone here knows what's up with that or how i can find out?
