Report: Patriots trade Demaryius Thomas to Jets
The New England Patriots are trading wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the New York Jets for a 2021 sixth-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Thomas signed a one-year contract with the Patriots this offseason after tearing his Achilles late last year. He was among the team's Week 1 inactives.
The veteran wideout joins his fourth team in the past year. He was traded from the Denver Broncos - where he spent the first eight-plus seasons of his career - to the Houston Texans last October.
Thomas caught 59 passes for 677 yards and five touchdowns in 2018, his lowest overall output since 2011.
The 31-year-old was deemed expendable in New England with a deep receiving corps and the arrival of Antonio Brown. He'll join a young Jets roster and likely compete for snaps behind Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and Jamison Crowder.
