Whether or not the Miami Dolphins honor his request, Minkah Fitzpatrick is focused on his Week 2 opponent and refused to address reports he was granted permission to seek a trade.

"I'm not talking about none of that right now," Fitzpatrick told reporters Friday, including WPLG's Clay Ferraro. "(I'm) focusing on the New England Patriots, it'll be a great game, (they're) a great team this Sunday.

"I'm not talking about future, I'm not talking about past. I'm talking about right now, which is the New England Patriots."

The second-year defensive back voiced his displeasure over his new role under first-year head coach Brian Flores. A team official said he isn't actively being shopped but has been allowed to look for a new home.

"I don't think it's unusual," Flores said, per ESPN's Cameron Wolfe. "Minkah is a good player. We've talked about his role all week. He's going to be a part of the game plan. I think he's going to go out there and play well, to be honest with you.

"I don't think anything is broken," he continued. "I've had this kind of similar situation and others in the past, so I think we'll be able to move past it and move through it. I think as an organization, we'll be fine."

Miami selected Fitzpatrick 11th overall in the 2018 draft. The team could have a difficult time finding a trade partner for the versatile defender, as the asking price on him is reportedly too high.
