[SOLVED] Nvidia drivers and mesa in current

Is it necessary in current to reinstall the Nvidia drivers (blob) whenever there's a mesa update? I thought the Nvidia drivers didn't overwrite system files now? (I've been reinstalling the driver anyway.)
